Learn Photography at Loch Lomond

If you want to learn photography in one of the most beautiful settings in Scotland, I have the course for you. Learn camera settings, techniques, and how to take better photographs during a one-off 2.5-hour workshop on the Bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.

Loch Lomond Photography Course

My photography courses take place regularly in the village of Balmaha, a pretty Loch Lomond village. Classes are capped to a maximum of six participants, ensuring the ability to tailor the sessions to those taking part and giving plenty of time for one-to-one tuition.

Who is the photography course for?

The photography course is helpful for anyone with a DSLR or Mirrorless camera. Generally, the participants have a camera but don’t know what all the buttons and dials do. This course aims to demystify camera settings, allowing users to control and capture the perfect picture.

Photography Course Contents

We start with capturing a sharp image and learning how to focus depending on the photography subject. I then explain the various camera modes, switching from automatic to different priority settings, before showing how to take photographs in manual mode. The most essential element is the exposure triangle, learning to balance light in various conditions to capture the perfect picture.

Learn Photography Techniques

As well as the camera settings, we also cover composition and approaches for photographing landscapes, portraits, sports and more.

Courses are deliberately outside to allow attendees to take photographs as they learn and then review the results. With the fabulous Loch Lomond setting, people always leave with some fantastic pictures of the landscapes, taken thanks to their newly developed photography skills.

Learn Photography Skills

I enjoy hosting these courses; no minimum skill level is necessary. Many participants have been gifted the class or recommended by previous participants. The key question I always ask at the end is, ‘Do you think that you can now take better photographs as a result of being on the course?’ for all those taking part, the answer has been a resounding YES!

Access to photography training

Accompanying the course is a presentation with notes and examples, which I show during the course. Afterward, I share this resource with the group as a download. I also offer free ongoing connection for those taking part to share some of their pictures and to ask any follow-up questions. It is good to have that community and to keep in touch.

Private Photography Courses

Sometimes, people want one-to-one training, and I offer courses for up to two people, arranged for a mutually agreed time.
